Today’s Democracy – In A Nutshell The United States is fighting for democracy around the globe. It is a catch cry of the US intended to signal to the world that they are on the side of Good in the age old war between Good and Evil. On the face of it, the cause is a just one. Democracy, the right of the people to have a say in their government and their future, is a grand goal to aim for. The definition of Democracy however, is becoming blurred - painted in so many shades of grey that we now struggle to understand its true meaning. Two elections took place recently that highlight the greyness of Democracy today - Ukraine and Syria. Democracy Ukraine Poroshenko has won the Ukraine election held amid fighting, rebellion and civil unrest. He won with around 55% of the vote.
